The walks around Moneglia

The paths that cross the hill of the Bracco have a big importance from the standpoint naturalistique, as well as those that take to the Parco dei Promontori (Punta Manara, Punta Baffe, Punta Moneglia)

Le cinque terre

Don’t miss the view (approximately 20 minutes by train from Moneglia) at the National Park and Marine Area of the Cinque Terre: Monterosso, Corniglia, Manarola, Vernazza, and Riomaggiore. Breathtaking landscapes and gorgeous hikes on the Via dell'Amore between terraced vineyards and olive groves all along the uncontaminated sea front, where you can observe the sea life.

Contained in a small stretch of land running from West to East, you will find Camogli the city of a thousand sailing ships, the Abbazia of San Fruttuoso built in the 10th century: this is only reachable by foot or by sea crossing the Protected Marine Reserve of Portofino which contain the enchanted village of Portofino well known eveywhere in the world, the elegant little towns of the Riviera such as Santa Margherita Ligure and Rapallo.

San Salvatore di Cogorno

The small city of San Salvatore di Cogorno (close to Lavagna) is worth a detour to visit his Basilica and his papal neighborhood edified by the Popes of the Fieschi's family (Innocenzo IV and Adriano V) about in the XIII.th century.


Genova

Genoa, selected as the European city of culture in 2004, is a must see for all who visit Liguria of Levante. Of notable interest are: the biggest aquarium in Europe, the completely renovated Porto Antico, the historic center with the characteristic carrugi, Via Garibaldi (the ancient Via Aurea) with its Renaissance palaces, and the Saint Lorenzo’s cathedral. At a short drive you can find the Fontanabuona valley, famous for its black stone (ardesia) caves, the Gambatesa's mine where you can enjoy a real miners'-train excursion, the Aveto National Park with its trails on the Alta Via on the Ligurian Mountains, the Borzone's abbey of the XI century, the characteristic Varese Ligure ancient town famous for the biological products and the intensive utilization of natural energy's sources (sun and wind); the San Nicolao's mount with the archeological site of the"ospitale" lost into the trees.
